The importance of Ses Salines on the island of Ibiza

The natural park of Ses Salines located in Ibiza and Formentera, is a protected area of the place since 2001. It was proclaimed then as a protected place by the Balearic Parliament.

This park goes from the island of Ibiza to Formentera separated by 6 kilometers of islets. The natural space occupies about 2,800 hectares of the territory between Ibiza and Sant Josep de Sa Talaia. Likewise, we find this natural park in a space of more than 13,000 hectares in the salt flats of Formentera and Es Freus.

As we discussed, we are facing a natural landscape and an impressive wealth for the island of Ibiza and Formentera. Suffice to say that it is a World Heritage Site declared by UNESCO since 1999. Important fact to explain how important it is on the island, right?

But why is it so important on the island and the area?
It is an area rich in nature and full of ecosystems that if they disappeared Ibiza would not be the same anymore. We must highlight the large ecosystems that they contain, such as those of the marshes, or their ornithological fauna systems or species that you will rarely see in other places, such as flamingos. That is why it is always important to protect this area of the island, to preserve the area and the surrounding fauna, and to be able to ensure that Ibiza will continue to be as beautiful as it is now.

Meet this natural park, located very close to our hotel Migjorn Ibiza Suites & SPA. Its nature, its paradisiacal landscapes, its fauna and the place itself will make you fall in love.
