THERE IS NO EVIL THAT LASTS A HUNDRED YEARS … NOR HARM THAT A VACATION IN IBIZA DOES NOT CURE

We are all, each and every one of us, going through very testing times. The fact is that a pandemic like the one we are dealing with crosses our path seldom, if ever. As a result, the events that now occur on a daily basis seem strange, to say the least, and it is hardly surprising that our reaction is generally negative. But there is another way of interpreting a crisis such as the present one, turning it into an opportunity and paying heed to what Henry Ford once said:  “Failure is simply the opportunity to begin again, this time more intelligently.” And that is the point: in the midst of so much uncertainty, the only thing we can control is our attitude towards the problem. Some people will allow fear to become lord and master of their lives, while others – more responsibly – carry on leading their lives in a positive way, learning from it all, and turning adversity into opportunity for personal and professional growth. Therefore, today I would like to share with you five guidelines to help us improve our attitude towards problems. I hope they prove useful, one way or another.

1st. Narrow down the problem or problems.

The best thing is to specify and know the problem in order to be able to deal with it. Difficulties are not infinite, and they have a beginning as well as an end: they have a place, a time, a history. Identifying their origin can provide guidelines on how to face, with serenity and intelligence, their outcome.

2nd. Let’s keep calm.

Anxiety and impatience are never good advisers when searching for effective solutions. Something that may now seem like the whole world to us will, in the near future, become a mere trifle. Let time, in its infinite wisdom, resolve what we cannot modify. Each action properly thought through with due serenity will have more solidity and strength in its outcome than the typical, knee-jerk reaction.

3rd. Let’s share our problems.

An outsider’s perspective can balance our own. Therefore, it makes perfect sense to share our preoccupations with those who are wise and worthy of our trust. It is equally important to listen and empathize with others,  providing moderation and common sense to support those who share the burden of our own problems. By the same token, it is necessary to distinguish between what is vital and requires our full attention with what is superfluous and therefore less worthy of our immediate concern.

4th. Let’s trust to our future.

It is important to maintain a sense of perspective, trying to observe problems from a suitable distance, as a great deal depends on the lens through which you are looking. It is preferable to bear the immediate future in mind at all times, and to try and have the essential resources to deal with it. Let’s not forget that the sun rises every day. You should make a firm resolve to abandon all negative attitudes in favour of positive, serene and friendly ones.

5th. There is nothing that cannot be solved with a nice, well-earned holiday in Ibiza

And once the first four steps have been covered, there is nothing that cannot be cured by this well-tested method. Because everyone needs a rest, sooner or later, to make up for all the hardships that they have experienced.

Happiness consists of living each day as if it were the first day of your honeymoon and the last of your vacation.

I hope you liked this post.

A big hug from Ibiza,
